Tells the story of a man, Josef K. arrested and prosecuted by a remote, inaccessible authority, with the nature of his crime revealed neither to him nor to the reader. A year later, he was killed by the same people. The Trial was never completed, though it does have a chapter which brings the story to an end causing some inconsistencies and in narration within the novel, such as disparities in timing.
